STRAWBERRY FIELDS

Online since 1993

Film has finally become an easily accessable art form. What was only available to the rich and powerful is now obtainable by regular individuals.

Any kid with an iMac can bust out home movies edited in a non-linear environment. When I was a kid, you had to wire a camcorder to a VCR just to make video edits that were almost as effective a gluing film frames piece by piece. Now you can dissolve and do all sorts of effects.

You only have to go so far as your local record store to see that technology is moving personal expression to new levels never before reached. Similarly, today's independent filmmakers are working to show their own techniques intended to move filmmaking into the next phase. Where the digital revolution finally takes filmmaking is anyones guess.

What? Read?

Robert Rodriguez - Rebel Without a Crew: or How a 23 year old filmmaker with $7,000 became a Hollywood player

Sidney Lumet's - Making Movies

Bruce Campbell - (Something about his Chin) an autobiography
